Peppermint: Peppermint:
While we love its aroma, rats hate it. Plant peppermint around your home and garden to keep rodents away. It is also effective against various insects.
Chamomile: The scent of chamomile is not only a powerful rodent repellent for tea. Hang dried chamomile in corners or sprinkle it along rodent tunnels to scare them away.
Cynoglossum officinale (Rat Dog): As its nickname suggests, this plant is a natural rodent repellent. Spread cooked twigs or plant them around your property to keep rodents away. Be careful though, as it is also toxic to humans.
Use biodiversity to control rodents:
Promoting natural predators such as cats can also help control rodent populations. Remember that a diverse ecosystem is often the best protection against pests.
